Availability
• Each iPad and Samsung Galaxy tablet is checked out as a bagged kit and includes adapter, power cord, protection case, storage box for accessories, and a carrying bag.
Eligibility
• Devices may be checked out by the Seneca Public Library cardholder. Patrons under the age of 18 need to have a parent or legal guardian present.
• Library card in good standing with no overdue items and no current fines is required.
• The check-out limit is one device per person at any given time.
• Borrowers must sign the Patron’s Agreement, each time, before checking out equipment. A parent or legal guardian Seneca Public Library cardholder must sign the Patron’s Agreement for borrowers under the age of 18.
• The library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses equipment or is repeatedly late in returning it.
Loan Period
• Loan period is 14 days with no renewals.
• Courtesy and overdue notices are sent 3 days before due date; 7 days after due date, and 14 days after due date.
• All devices and accessories must be returned to the circulation desk. Patrons cannot place items in the library drop box.
• Devices are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The library cannot guarantee that devices will be available. The library does not take reservations.
• There is a possible 24-hour turnaround time for maintenance on returned devices.
Fees and Damages
• $5.00 late fee will be assessed for each day a bagged kit is returned past its due date.
• Devices returned in a book drop will be assessed $5.00 one-time fee.
• Replacement cost for lost Samsung Galaxy tablet is $315.00.
• Replacement cost for lost iPad is $375.00.
• Replacement cost for lost adapter with power cord is $45.00.
• Replacement cost for lost adapter or power cord is $25.00.
• Replacement cost for lost or broken protection case is $35.00.
• Replacement cost for lost or broken storage box for accessories is $10.00.
• Library will assess repair cost for items that are returned with a physical damage or not in a working order.
• The working condition of the device will be assessed before checkout and upon its return. Users are responsible for damage to and/or loss or theft of loaned units.
• A parent or legal guardian assumes full responsibility for fees and damages for patrons under the age of 18.
Use
• No software may be downloaded or installed on iPads and tablets, nor can any changes be made to the system configurations.
• Borrowers are responsible for deleting any personal information that may have been added to the device while in their possession before the device is returned. Equipment will be restored to a default setting upon each check in.
• Limited technical support is available via library technology workshops. Borrowers will need to have basic familiarity and comfort with the equipment and the software.
Disclaimer
• The library is not responsible for any files left on the device or for loss or damage to files.
• The library is not responsible for unauthorized access to personal accounts that the user fails to properly sign-out of, including but not limited to email, Twitter, Facebook, and Google Drive.
• The library is not responsible for any issues or damages that the device may cause to any other equipment to which the device is connected.
