Library Card and Borrowing Categories
Patrons over the age of 5 years old can get a library card. Patrons under the age of 18 need to have a parent or legal guardian present when registering. Library cards can be renewed. The lost card replacement fee is $3.00. Library services are offered to all residents of the Seneca Public Library District and to non-residents in specific categories. Reference Assistance and Reader’s Advisory
Reference assistance and reader’s advisory are offered in-person, over the phone, or via Ask A Librarian.
Interlibrary Loan
Borrow materials from another library. The Seneca Public Library is subject to the interlibrary loan service policies of the lending libraries. Requesting patrons assume full responsibility for borrowed items. Place requests through PrairieCat or by contacting us.
Curbside Pickup
Curbside pickup of library materials is available during regular hours.
Return of Library Materials
Library patrons may return Seneca’s materials as well as items borrowed through the PrairieCat catalog to the Seneca Public Library or any PrairieCat member library. Items borrowed from the non PrairieCat member library must be returned to the Seneca Public Library. An outside bookdrop for after-hours returns is available. The Library of Things items must be returned to the circulation desk.

Services for Patrons with Disabilities
Talking Book and Braille Service provides audio and braille library service via mail or digital download to any Illinois resident who is unable to read standard print material due to a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability.
Computers and Internet
Six Windows 10 computers with Microsoft Office 2019 are available for public use. They cannot be reserved. Patrons are required to check out a computer at the front desk and follow the library Internet and Computer Use Policy. Two additional computers offer access to the library catalog. Kids library catalog kiosk is available. Free wireless fiber Internet is provided. Patrons must have a valid Seneca Public Library card and those without a valid library card will be charged $1.00 per hour for computer use and will need to show a valid ID.
Printers, Photocopiers, Scanners, Fax and Microform Reader
Black/white prints and copies – .10 ¢ per page.
Color prints and copies – .50 ¢ per page.
Sending a fax – $1.00 per page.
Receiving a fax – .10 ¢ per page.
Remote printing from any location and any device is available.
Scanning and microform reader are free.
Laminating
.50 ¢ per item.
Cultural Center and Study Room
The Cultural Center is available for pre-approved events. It may be reserved by nonprofit or community groups. Groups wishing to use the Cultural Center must agree to follow library policies. The study room is available for use at any time by any patron.
Notary Service
Notary service is provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. It will end fifteen minutes before library closing. Notary may not be present at all times.
